About Us

CTY.AD Charity Raffles was created to make online raffles fair, transparent, and meaningful. Every entry helps support good causes, while giving people the chance to win exciting prizes. We operate with honesty at the heart of everything we do, clear odds, visible winners, and real impact in local communities. No gimmicks, no hidden catches, just trusted raffles for good.

Compliance, Regulation & How cty.ad CIC Operates

cty.ad Community CIC exists to make charity raffles clear, fair, and responsible. That means being properly registered, operating within UK law, and being fully transparent about how our raffles work, where funds go, and what safeguards are in place.

Below is a clear explanation of how we’re regulated and the rules we operate under.

What is a Community Interest Company (CIC)?

cty.ad is registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC).

A CIC is a special type of UK limited company created specifically for organisations that exist to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. Unlike normal companies, a CIC:

  • must operate for social / community benefit

  • is overseen by the CIC Regulator

  • has an asset lock, meaning funds must stay in the organisation or go to approved good causes

  • cannot be sold for profit

  • must submit annual public reports showing how it benefits the community

This structure gives reassurance that cty.ad exists to do genuine good, not to enrich owners.

Licensed to Run Charity Raffles

In addition to being a CIC, we are also registered as a Small Society Lottery operator with our local authority:

Registered Local Authority:

Liverpool City Council

(Small Society Lottery registration details can be added here)

This registration allows us to legally run raffles and prize draws in line with UK gambling law.

We Operate Under UK Law

Our raffles are run in line with the Gambling Act 2005 and Small Society Lottery Regulations. These rules exist to protect players, ensure fairness, and guarantee that raffles meaningfully support good causes.

Under the law, Small Society Lotteries must follow specific limits and safeguards, including:

  • Maximum £20,000 ticket sales per individual raffle

  • Maximum £250,000 ticket sales total across all raffles in a calendar year

  • A minimum of 20% of proceeds must go to good causes / charitable purposes

  • Tickets must be clearly priced and equal in value

  • Key information must be displayed, including:

    • promoting organisation

    • draw date

    • licence / registration details

    • how the winner is chosen

  • Only valid, paid entries are included in draws

  • Winners must be selected fairly and transparently

  • Accurate records must be kept for inspection

We follow these rules strictly.

Important: If cty.ad ever wishes to exceed the above limits, we would require a Gambling Commission licence. Until then, these limits protect fairness and integrity — while we plan to raise additional social impact funds through other lawful income streams beyond raffles.

Where the Money Goes

Every raffle clearly explains:

  • what the prize is

  • which charities or causes benefit

  • how much goes to good causes

  • how the draw works

  • when the draw will take place

We do not believe in vague promises or unclear fundraising. Each draw has open information from start to finish.

Fairness, Security & Transparency

We design every raffle around trust:

  • Fair and verifiable draw processes

  • Winners announced openly

  • Clear rules and no hidden terms

  • Secure payment systems

  • Data handled responsibly

  • Records maintained as required by law

If requested by regulators, we can evidence how each draw was run.

Age & Responsible Participation

Participation is restricted to eligible players under UK law. Entrants must confirm eligibility at the point of entry. We also encourage responsible play and sensible participation — raffles should always be fun, not pressured.

Accountability

As a CIC, we must submit annual reports to demonstrate community benefit.

As a registered lottery operator, we are accountable to Liverpool City Council’s Licensing Department, and we comply with record-keeping and reporting obligations.

That means independent oversight exists at all times.
